A New THEOPHILUS
Well, it doesn't fly the fabled Jolly Roger -- not too often anyway, but there IS a new watercraft named for novel hero Theophilus Turner. Jay's 1987 Marinette 32 Sedan was commissioned in mid-April and plies the waters of the Ohio River, off the shores of Evansville Indiana. The boat is based at Inland Marina near the site fo the famous LST Ship Memorial World War II Landing Ship, Tank. Jay is now in his second year of a three year term as Commodore of Inland Yacht Club
The boat became a member of the Zimmer family in January, right after Jay's birthday, and about two weeks before Jay was forced into retirement from his broadcast career. She is 32 feet long and has a private stateroom in the forecastle, an enclosed deckhouse with sliding glass doors, a flying bridge, a two-burner stove in the galley with a fridge and microwave, and a pressurized water system with hot water. Sound like they could live aboard? On weekends, they do. And you can believe that a lot of Jay's 4th Novel, The Color Of Dark will be written on her decks.
Look for pictures of the boat, appropriately named Theophilus, coming soon to this web site.
