     A young coed is brutally murdered at a Maryland university, and the editor of a newspaper, which mogul Charlie Hume is buying -- and which Peter McDermott will edit -- doesn't want to quiz local authorities about the case.  Puzzled, McDermott begins his own inquiry and uncovers a clandestine, protected society of sex and debauchery whose secrecy is assured by a ruthless enforcer.  Women who refuse to cooperate face the ruin of their college careers.  Threatening the exposure of the "The Club" is punishable by death.  McDermott and his intrepid band of journalists must dodge attempts on their own lives as they attempt to get the goods on the leaders of "The Club," and those who protect it.
