International Mystery Writers Festival 2009
IMWF in Pictures
It was a privilage and an honor to be asked to participate in this year's International Mystery Writers Festival in Owensboro Kentucky. It was a truly marvelous event with many interesting things going on. Not the least of those were four Agatha Christie radio plays being performed for the first time in the United States, and broadcast live on WNIN, public radio. The actors included Gary Sandy, erstwhile portrayer of Andy Travis on WKRP in Cincinnati. They appeared in makeup and costume, but there was no blocking; they held their scripts and read their lines into microphones. The highlight for me was the Foley table where two guys did the sound effects live, just like in the "olden days." I also did something unusual -- I took my boat, a 32 foot Marinette named Theophilus, after my book, to Owensboro and tied up at the marina, living aboard for a week. That's included in this pictorial rendition of this lovely event.
